Schwedisch-Kurs für Mediziner übers Netz

We are looking to recruit students for a pilot run of a new Swedish language and communication skills course for doctors and medical students who are planning to work in hospitals or general practice in Sweden.

Objectives:
-To help you develop useful language for communicating with patients and colleagues

To raise awareness of linguistic, social and cultural factors that affect the doctor-patient relationship in Sweden

Applicant profile
You should:
* be a medical student with an interest in working in Sweden
* have a basic knowledge of Swedish
* have little or no previous experience of working in Sweden
* be willing to complete course evaluation questionnaires and interviews
* be willing to take part in online activities
* have ready access to up-to-date computing facilities with fast Internet connection (broadband or other)
* be able to spend up to 4 hours a week on course activities ( weekly chat session (2 hours) + individual study time for the learning material (about 2 hours per week)

About the pilot course
The course will be run between November, 8th 2004 and December, 17th , with short pre- and post-course induction and evaluation periods.

You will be using specially written materials and working in an online learning environment. Studying will involve using interactive exercises in your own time as well as taking part in online activities such as chats and discussions with your peers and the course tutors. The tutors are Swedish medics working in Sweden.

This is an opportunity to develop your Swedish language skills and experience online training. There is no fee for this pilot course but
participants will be asked to give their commitment for the whole course
period.
